The Ukrainian side called Russia’s actions “deliberate steps” aimed at the escalation of tensions in Ukrainian-Russian relations.
Permanent representative of Ukraine to the United Nations (UN) Sergiy Kyslytsya informed the UN Secretary-General about the conduct of the so-called “naval parade” units of the black sea fleet of the Russian Federation to the annexed Crimea, Sevastopol. In the letter, Sorrel noted that the Russian naval parade, which was held in Sevastopol on July 26, violates international law, including resolutions of the UN General Assembly.
“Ukraine condemns the ongoing militarization of the Crimea, which is a significant threat to regional security”, – stated in the message.
“Ukraine demands from the Russian Federation to cease immediately the internationally wrongful acts against state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and to adopt comprehensive measures de-occupation of the sovereign territory of Ukraine”, – emphasized in circulation.
At the request of Ukraine, a letter addressed to the Secretary General, will be circulated as an official document of the General Assembly and the UN Security Council.
Earlier, UN Secretary-General, antónio Guterres, released a report, which reported on human rights abuses in annexed Crimea.
