The Ministry of Finance refused to increase the funding of the project “the Wall”

The state frontier service requests to increase the funding of the project on the border with Russia 4,5 billion UAH.

The Finance Ministry has denied the state border service to extend the deadline and increase the funding of the project Wall up to 4.5 billion hryvnia. This is stated in the reply of the Ministry of Finance border guards, which were published by the organization StateWatch.

At the same time, the Ministry of Finance is ready to agree on the idea after the fulfillment of certain conditions.

The Agency announced that the proposed border funding of the project Wall in 2020-2025 years in the amount of 4.5 billion UAH exceeds the one determined in the current order of 3.8 times or by UAH 3.3 bn. If the Cabinet will support such proposals, the total cost for the “Wall” will increase to 6.2 billion UAH.

The Finance Ministry has noted that further consideration of the draft increased funding is not possible without providing the state border service of detailed financial and economic calculations, as well as reporting information on the implementation of the project Wall for the last time in 2015, and taking into account the forecast of macroeconomic indicators for the medium term.

In this claim the project is not at all ministries. So the Ministry of economy and Gosgeokadastr changes were agreed without comment.

At the same time the Finance Ministry has noted that now a priority funding from the state budget require measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Ukraine.

Note, as of the end of may, the Wall has been completed 40%.

We will remind, the project of a wall on the border with Russia in 2014, has proposed to the Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk. In June of the same year, the Cabinet approved the project, the cost of which amounted to about $ 150 million.

In July 2017, it became known that the GPU is investigating a large embezzlement in the construction of the Wall. In the theft of public money is suspected of eight people.
