The accused received two years probation.
In Germany, the trial of the former 93-year-old security guard of the Nazi “death camp” Stutthof Bruno D.
It is noted that on 20 July a man was sentenced to two years imprisonment, recognizing guilty of involvement in the death of 5230 prisoners of the concentration camps, some of which died from disease but the rest were killed by the Nazis.
The plaintiffs were about 40 Holocaust survivors and relatives of the victims.
A lawsuit against the SS guard considered the juvenile court, as when in August of 1944, Bruno D. entered the service of the Nazis, he was 17 years old.
He denied his involvement in the murder and insisted that he performed only a protective function, but prosecutors did not take this into account.
“When you are involved in the mechanisms of mass murder, not just to look”, – stated in the documents of the public Prosecutor Lars Mahnke.
According to him, the camp guards knew what was happening inside, polka talked with the prisoners and prevented their escape. Bruno himself has admitted — he was known to him that Stutthof have gas chambers.
“Today I would like to apologize to those who went through this crazy hell, and their relatives — nothing like this can ever happen again,” said the defendant in his final statement.
Journalists call this process “the last case of the Holocaust” because of the age of any other Nazi criminals who were put on trial — 95-year-old Johann p. and 96-year-old Hubert C does not imply their participation on the court.
