Costs have risen significantly.
Ukraine is at war, it is not surprising that defense expenditures represent a significant part of the budget. We offer you to see how much money the country spent for the maintenance of the Ministry of defence and the Armed forces of Ukraine over the last 10 years, and the percentage of GDP accounted for these costs.
In 2010, under the presidency of Viktor Yushchenko and Viktor Yanukovych expenses of the Ministry of defence amounted to UAH 8.7 billion or 0.8% of GDP. The government was then headed by Yulia Tymoshenko at first, but after prezidenstskie elections Mykola Azarov.
Next year the defense Ministry has allocated more money – UAH 1.15 billion, while in relation to GDP, nothing has changed, and defense spending were the same 0.8%.
In 2012, the defense received from the budget of 16.4 billion UAH, to GDP amounted to 1.1%. A year later, the situation has changed and the Ministry of defence received a budget of 15.3 billion UAH, which accounted for 1% of GDP. Almost the same situation persisted in 2014, despite the change of government.
In 2015, the state defense has allocated 45.8 billion UAH or 2.3% of GDP. A year later, the costs rose to 59.4 billion or 2.5% of GDP.
Significantly increased defense spending in 2017, when the Ministry of the budget was allocated of 68.8 billion UAH, although relative to GDP it amounted to 2.3%.
In 2018 year, Ukraine has allocated the Ministry of defense of 86.6 billion, which was 2.4% of GDP. Last year this indicator increased in monetary terms to UAH 103 billion and up to 2.6% of GDP.
The formation of the budget-2020 began under President Vladimir Zelensky and government Groisman, and ended when Goncharuk. Spending on defense amounted to a record 117,5 billion. Legal defense funds make up the largest percentage of GDP in the history of Ukraine – 2,9%.
