A tanker with American oil for Belarus is expected to arrive in the port of Klaipeda in the evening of 5 June. This was reported on Friday the press-Secretary of the concern “Belneftekhim” Alexander Tishchenko.
“A tanker with American oil on the way. Arrival in Klaipeda is expected tonight,” said Tishchenko. He recalled the first deal with an American trader oil supply to the Republic, according to which planned to purchase 80 thousand tons of fuel-grade Bakken. After arriving in the port of Klaipeda oil by rail will be delivered to the refinery “Naftan” in Novopolotsk (Vitebsk region).
In may, U.S. Secretary of state Michael Pompeo reported that the first batch of American oil will go to Belarus. This deal was made with the participation of American energotreydera United Energy Trading, as well as with the assistance of the American company Getka and their Polish partner, UNIMOT. Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei said that the supply of American oil are part of a government strategy to diversify sources and ensure the stable operation of the oil refinery complex of Belarus in 2020 and in subsequent years.
From 1 January 2020 Belarus has no agreements with Russian companies for the supply of oil in the Druzhba pipeline because of a dispute over the size of the award to duty free price of oil. The supply of raw materials to Belarusian refineries only continued the group of companies “Safmar” Mikhail Gutseriev, so the country started to buy a tanker of oil from alternative suppliers through Lithuania and Ukraine. At the end of March, Moscow and Minsk reached an agreement on the resumption of oil supplies from major Russian companies. Plans for June – purchase of 1.1 million tons of Russian oil.
Earlier it was reported that Belarus bought a batch of crude oil from Saudi Arabia, the country also started to buy a tanker of oil from other alternative suppliers from Norway and Azerbaijan.
