Spice Girls reunion 2019: Will there be a TV special?
Today, the Spice Girls are to announce a 2019 reunion world tour, with the girls minus Victoria Beckham touring for the first time since 2009.
This was confirmed on the Monday, November 5 edition of Loose Women, on which Mel B announced: “Oh yeah we are [doing a world tour]. Oh, I’m in trouble again.
“The hopes are that we go everywhere else in the world. For right now, it’s just the UK.”
With the Spice Girls reunion definitely going ahead, there has been much speculation that there will be a TV special in 2019 as there was when they last reformed for a tour in 2007, as well as appearences on X Factor, Graham Norton or Strictly Come Dancing.
Will there be a Spice Girls reunion TV special?
Although the four Spice Girls have not confirmed a TV special yet, the bookies agree that is hugely likely there will be one.
After all, their 2007 reunion was marked with a TV documentary titled Giving You Everything and a performance on the Strictly Come Dancing final alongside their world tour.
“Excitement is going to rocket when the Spice Girls do confirm their reunion tour plans and you can guarantee they’ll be on our screens a lot over the next twelve months,” said Harry Aitkenhead of Coral, who are offering ½ odds of the Spices having a TV special before the end of 2019.
“The Graham Norton Show and X Factor seem likely cameos, whilst Glastonbury seems a bit more unlikely but you just never know.”
Another possibility is a special on Netflix, which previously hosted the Spice Girls’ feature film Spice World.
Coral are offering odds of 4/1 that Geri, Mel C, Mel B and Emma will have a special on the streaming platform.
Even if Ginger, Baby, Scary and Sporty aren’t given their own special, they are likely to appear on one of the big end of year shows.
The last time they performed together was at the London 2012 Olympic closing ceremony, which was watched by 26.3million people in the UK and hundreds of millions more around the world.
Paddy Power think that an appearance on Graham Norton is almost inevitable, with 1/100 odds of them turning up on the chat show host’s sofa.
Other possible appearances include another visit to Strictly or one of Jools Holland’s programs, with odds of 5/2 and 5/1 respectively according to Betway.
Ladbrokes’ Alex Apati added: “With the Spice Girls now just hours away from a huge announcement, don’t be surprised to see them make an appearance on Strictly or X Factor soon.”
Express.co.uk have contacted representatives of The X Factor who have yet to respond.
However, these shows may want to book the girls quick, as Paddy Power believe they won’t be back together for long.
A spokesperson said: “As with any friends who haven’t spent any length of time together in years, we wouldn’t be shocked if the reunion was cut short.”
Their last reunion was cut short due to Mel B, who said on today’s Loose Women: “I didn’t feel like I could go on anymore, living this fake world – which was my world, between my marriage, not the girls.
“So, I kind of said to them, ‘I can’t carry on anymore’.”
Spice Girls will appear on the Jonathan Ross Show on Saturday, November 10 at 10.05pm
