Spice Girls ODDS-ON to headline Glastonbury 2019 amid reunion announcement
Today the iconic girlband will confirm tour dates for 2019, albeit without Victoria Beckham.
Bookies have since offered incredibly short odds on them taking to the country’s most prolific music festival next summer.
Paddy Power has offered 1/4 odds of them taking top billing.
“The reunion of the Spice Girls has been eagerly anticipated, and we predict that we’re in for Spice Mania 2.0 over the coming months,” said a spokesperson for the firm.
“They’re tipped to out-sell Oasis at Knebworth, headline Glasto 2019, and we even think there’s going to be a raft of babies born with the name Geri.
“But, as with any friends who haven’t spent any length of time together in years, we wouldn’t be shocked if the reunion was cut short.”
As such, odds are 4/1 that they split within a year, and 10/1 that they split again within just six months.
Plus, punters can get odds of 6/4 that Victoria Beckham joins the fun at some point – even for a one-off.
The band have not played together since the closing ceremony of the London Olympics in 2012, and before that they had a previous reunion tour in 2007 and 2008.
At that point they released their last original song, Headlines (Friendship Never Ends) – which, at the time, became their first ever single to miss the Top 2 in the UK charts, peaking instead at No11.
Speaking on Heart Radio this morning, Emma Bunton confirmed the details can be expected this afternoon.
“It’s so exciting,” she said.
“Everything will be announced just after three o’clock today on social media.
“After three o’clock today you will find out everything.”
A post on the Spice Girls Twitter account teased: “Our broadcast continues shortly.”
Each of the five members has had some success as a solo artist, with Melanie C still recording, releasing and performing her own material today.
