Princess Eugenie will marry wine-merchant Jack Brooksbank today at St George’s Chapel in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

As with all royal events, today’s nuptials will have been planned meticulously with events running with clockwork precision.

Most brides dream of a wedding planned with such intricacy, as well as wishing for the fairytale castle which Eugenie has for her reception.

Speaking exclusively to express.co.uk wedding planner Michelle Jacobs from Elegante by Michelle J explains how brides are taking inspiration from the Royals when it comes to planning the big day.

Ms Jacobs said: “We’re still riding high on Meghan and Harry’s wedding.

“And it’s not only the dresses that I’m seeing brides emulate, but it’s also the flowers, the hair, the make-up and also the general style of weddings, including brides doing their own speeches.”

Meghan bucked the trend at her wedding, giving a speech to her wedding party in the place of her father Thomas Markle who couldn’t attend for health reasons.

The modern pair also removed the word ‘obey’ from their vows and in a nod to Meghan’s heritage included a gospel choir at the ceremony.

It’s not just the style that brides are emulating, but also the food and design of their venue.

“This summer I’ve seen brides swap the traditional wedding breakfast in favour of bowl food, enjoyed the splendour of flowered archways and witnessed much more ‘natural’ make up a la Meghan.”

Meghan is known for allowing her freckles to show through her makeup, and her wedding day was no exception.

When planning weddings, some brides are still taking inspiration from nearly ten years ago.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were wed on April 29, 2011, in an extravagant ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

Ms Jacobs said: “Kate and William’s wedding was, of course, the first big royal wedding we all watched with anticipation almost a decade ago – and I’m still seeing echoes of that wedding today.

“Very quickly I saw brides wanting high-necked lace wedding gowns after what had seemed like decades of off the shoulder numbers – and those very dresses are still in demand today.”

Kate wore an ivory satin dress with lace sleeves and slightly padded hips in an Alexander McQueen style look.

The iconic dress was designed by British designer Sarah Burton and incorporated hand-cut Chantilly lace.

Ms Jacobs believes that royal weddings will continue to inspire and awe people.

She said: “The Royals are now very much celebrities today and our obsession with every minute detail of their weddings and lives will no doubt continue.”
