Guess which chart-topping popstar has ‘written Cheryl comeback single’? Release THIS week?
The former Girls Aloud singer had previously announced that she’d been working with ex-bandmate Nicola Roberts on new material.
But Roberts isn’t the only performer with her name on the credits for Love Made Me Do It: a big 2000s British favourite is also listed.
It seems that Natasha Bedingfield has been involved in the track’s creation.
She shot to fame in the mid-2000s with tracks such as Single, Unwritten, These Words and Soulmate; and is the brother of fellow chart-topper Daniel Bedingfield.
The ASCAP website – the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers – officially reveals the track and its creators.
Its credited writers include Cheryl herself, plus Bedingfield, Roberts and noted serial hitmaker Miranda Cooper.
The Invisible Men are also credited; a Grammy-nominated production trio consisting of Jason Pebworth, George Astasio and Jon Shave.
It is widely speculated that the song will be released this Friday, November 9, although Cheryl has not confirmed this herself.
She is then thought to be performing the track on an X Factor results show at some point before the series finale next month.
Her comeback was officially put into motion just weeks ago when she was confirmed for the line-up of Hits Live on Sunday, November 25.
The popstar, who has five solo number ones, spoke earlier this year of the recording process.
“Nicola and I wrote every track together,” she told The Sun of the new album earlier this year.
“It’s been great working with one of my best friends, but I’m really proud of the album and excited for people to hear the new music.
“It’s pretty much finished. At this stage we’re deciding what will be the first single.
“We’re choosing between about three songs, but that’s quite a nice problem to have.”
She added: “Thankfully I’m not looking at it, saying, ‘Oh God, all this work and we don’t have a hit record’. I think we do.”
Fight For This Love, Promise This, Call My Name, Crazy Stupid Love and I Don’t Care all topped the charts for the Geordie superstar.
