Cheryl reveals BIG news after Liam Payne split as she prepares huge comeback
The singer has been working on new music for some time now, with her latest album Only Human now four years old.
After announcing earlier this month that she and Payne have gone their separate ways, the 35-year-old has confirmed that her new material is almost ready for release – with a big pop comeback on the horizon.
What’s more, every track on the upcoming record was co-written with her Girls Aloud bandmate Nicola Roberts.
“Nicola and I wrote every track together,” she told The Sun.
“It’s been great working with one of my best friends, but I’m really proud of the album and excited for people to hear the new music.
“It’s pretty much finished. At this stage we’re deciding what will be the first single.
“We’re choosing between about three songs, but that’s quite a nice problem to have.”
She added: “Thankfully I’m not looking at it, saying, ‘Oh God, all this work and we don’t have a hit record’. I think we do.”
Cheryl has five solo number one singles to her name – Fight For This Love, Promise This, Call My Name, Crazy Stupid Love and I Don’t Care – and also achieved 20 consecutive Top 10 singles as part of Girls Aloud.
She became a mother to her son Bear in 2017, and hit headlines last week when she had the infant’s father, One Direction star Payne, announced their split.
“We are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways,” she tweeted.
“It’s been a tough decision for us to make. We still have so much love for each other as a family.
“Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together.”
She later posted an additional update calling for the media to stop speculating that her mother was instrumental in the split.
