Cheryl comeback single: How many copies has Cheryl sold in BIGGEST FLOP ever?
A vigorous campaign was launched ahead of the release of Cheryl‘s new single Love Made Me Do It. But the track, which entered the charts at number 19, has already fallen dismally to 48. And after a widely mocked performance on X factor, it seems Cheryl’s ‘comeback’ is nowhere to be seen.
According to The Sun, just 5,000 copies of the single have been sold.
Her online streaming figures are slightly better at 460,000 plays on Spotify this week – but current No.1 Ariana Grande has outstripped her with a whopping 6.3million plays of her breakup anthem Thank U, Next.
A source told The Sun: “It’s dropping down the rankings fast this week despite it being her big comeback.
“It could easily end up falling further by the time the final charts are unveiled on Friday.”
The dismal sales were revealed shortly after Cheryl took to Twitter to call her critics out for the “relentless abuse” she received after her much-mocked X-Factor performance.
The performance was slammed by fans, who called it “embarrassing” and “painful.”
In response, Cheryl wrote: “My music and performances are never going to be for everyone. And that’s OK.
“I did watch my performance backIand I LOVED IT!”
However, The Sun’s source said: “Cheryl’s devastated over the harsh comments… She always says that ‘haters’ come with fame and she expects some negativity, but she didn’t expect this reaction.“
The 25-year-old Geordie appeared a guest performer on the X-Factor’s Big Band Week results show.
She sparked controversy with her performance, with fans stunned as she licked her hand in the x-rated performance.
One fan tweeted: “Cheryl Cole put your clothes back on.”

But not everyone was so appalled by the performance.
One fan tweeted: “Slayyyy queen I love you Cheryl So proud of you!! Flawless performance.”
Another wrote: “Amazing performance…wish i was there.”
Cheryl swore last week that if her music failed to strike the right notes with fans, she’d pack her showbiz career in once and for all to concentrate on being a full-time mum to toddler son Bear.
Time will tell whether she decides to retire or give a comeback another bash.
