Britney Spears: Is THIS her big announcement? ‘New Las Vegas residency coming’
Spears previously impressed with her Piece Of Me residency – which sold just under 1 million tickets across 248 shows; making $137,695,392.
Now, Mail Online claims she’ll surpass Celine Dion as the highest-paid entertainer on the Vegas strip as she returns with a brand new set.
The MGM-owned, 5200-seat Park Theater will play host to her venture, the report claims – thus leaving behind the AXIS auditorium at Planet Hollywood.
The new show, expected to launch next spring, will mark the 20th anniversary of the release of her first single …Baby One More Time back in the late 1990s.
“Britney is becoming the highest paid resident on the Strip. It is a huge deal and will be great news for her fans,” a source said.
“This month is the 20th anniversary of her debut release and it feels like the best time to make this announcement.
“She loves performing in Vegas, being able to please her fans and juggle her family life with her boys. This deal has been many months in the making.
“The money seems astronomical, but it is a fair price for a woman who has a proven track record of selling out shows here.”
It is believed that the show will be markedly different from Piece Of Me, with a different setlist, new routines and – if rumours of an upcoming tenth album are to be believed – new material.
Last week Spears briefly appeared on Ellen in the US to promise that big news was coming tomorrow, October 18.
She took the Piece Of Me tour around the world this year; including multiple dates in the UK.
Those shows included the London O2 Arena and being the headline act at Brighton Pride.
Still, Spears has not released any new music since 2016 and the well-received opus Glory.
That collection – led by the single Make Me – achieved her joint-highest UK album chart position ever, and also picked up stellar reviews.
To date the icon has shifted more than 100 million records worldwide, and is one of few artists in history to have a number one single and studio album in each of the three decades of their career.
The Louisiana-born entertainer will turn 37 in December.
