Thank u, Next is the newest album release from Ariana Grande, coming just months after her split from ex-fiancee Pete Davidson and death of former boyfriend Mac Miller. While the whole album has been eagerly anticipated, these events in Grande’s life have meant this album bears a particular significance. She was supposed to perform at the Grammy Awards event this weekend on February 10 but pulled out at the last second. The ensuing controversy propelled the search for certain tracks from her album into popularity.

Why did Ariana Grande back out of the Grammy Awards performance?

According to Grammys chief Ken Ehrlich, Ariana Grande pulled out of the concert at the last second due to her believing it was “too late for her to pull something together.”

Talking to the Associated Press, he said: “As it turned out when we finally got the point where we thought maybe it would work, she felt it was too late for her to pull something together for sure.

“And it’s too bad, she’s a great artist.”

However, Ariana Grande hit back via social media, saying the producer was “lying” and tweeting her side of the story.

She revealed she had chosen to back out due to being “stifled” during talks.

She wrote: “I can pull together a performance overnight and you know that, Ken.

“It was when my creativity and self-expression was stifled by you, that I decided not to attend.

“I hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more.”

Why are Bloodline, NASA, Fake Smile and Needy so popular?

Ariana Grande’s latest album has piqued particular interest as it directly addresses her past relationships.

Each song has particular significance to the people she loves and how she feels about her life.

They show the singer forging her own path, standing up to those who are against her, particularly important given her recent difficulties with Ken Ehrlich.

Here are some of the most important lyrics from these famous tracks on ‘Thank u, Next’:

Bloodline: “I ain’t lookin’ for my one true love. Yeah that ship sailed away.”

Fake Smile: “I read the things they write about me. Hear what they saying on the TV. It’s crazy.”

NASA: “Baby, you know time apart is beneficial. It’s like I’m the universe and you’ll be N-A-S-A.”

Needy: “Lately, I’ve been on a roller coaster/ Tryna get a hold of my emotions.”
